What do you look for in a burnisher for cabinet scrapers? One is the hardness and the other is smoothness. These burnishers, made using high speed steel, have a hardness of RC 64 and are polished to a fine shine. The shapes are round, teardrop, and triangular. They fit perfectly inside the solid brass handle secured by two allen screws. The length of each tip is 6" and the handle length is 5 1/2". Why three shapes? It is mostly a matter of preference. Using the corners of the triangular burnisher, a lot of pressure can be exerted on the scraper edge, so use it when the scraper is very dull. The teardrop burnisher can be used for either heavy or light burnishing depending upon which contour comes in contact with the scraper edge. The round shape (most woodworkers are familiar with this type) is good for quick light burnishing. Use them all and find out which suits your needs the best. From Gladstone Tools.
