Rawhide mallets are used in a woodshop for knocking hardwood parts together without marking the wood. Experienced woodturners use these to drive the spurs of drive centers into the wood blanks as even hard blows of the rawhide mallet will not damage the spur center in any way. Our mallet has a leather head measuring about 1 1/2" x 3" with a 11" hickory handle.
